Video: Cardiac Rehabilitation Physical activity is healthy for your heart—even after you've had a heart attack or bypass surgery. It's important to start out slowly, under the supervision of cardiac rehab specialists. In this video, you'll learn what's involved in cardiac rehab and how it can benefit your health in the long term. |
Fannin Regional Hospital has a phase 2 and phase 3 cardiac rehabilitation program. This program is run by a Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist who has over 22 years of experience in cardiac rehabilitation.
Who can benefit from cardiac rehabilitation?
Patients with the following conditions: Heart attack, coronary artery bypass surgery, angioplasty or stent insertion, stable angina, heart transplant, heart failure, heart valve surgery, heart rhythm disorders, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and diabetes, and those people trying to prevent a heart problem.
We offer a comprehensive program where patients and their families receive education about making life style changes and about improving their risk for further heart problems. Educational topics may include: nutrition; weight control; stress management; blood pressure control; diabetes management; smoking cessation; warnings of angina, stroke or congestive heart failure; exercise safety; exercise guidelines; and much more.
Possible benefits of participating in cardiac rehabilitation include:
- improved exercise endurance
- weight and or fat loss
- increased muscle strength
- improved quality of life
- increased self-confidence
- potentially fewer symptoms of angina and congestive heart failure
We are located at Fannin Regional Hospital, in the Medical Office Building, near Piedmont Heart Institute's cardiologists' office, in Suite 109. For more information, please call Julie Shirah at (706) 632-4253.
